The pitch, one line

Wordle trains your vocabulary. The Bureau trains your eye.

The pitch, one paragraph

Daily Holmes is a free daily deduction game. Every morning one photograph of a stranger’s space goes live: a desk left in a hurry, a kitchen that pretends to be tidy. Players read the room, make their case in one of fifteen formats, and an AI examiner scores their reasoning the way a mentor would, with credit for evidence, credit for logic, and nothing for lucky guesses. One photograph. Three minutes. Every morning.

Why it is different

Almost every daily puzzle is a word or a grid. Daily Holmes is the rare one built on a photograph, open-ended writing, and a graded argument. Nobody else in the category claims to make you better at the thing the game is about, which is reading a room. That is the promise: the archive is a record of your eye improving, not a score table.

About the photographs and the AI

The people in the cases are fictional, written to be read. Some photographs are staged and some are AI-generated, and each case says which on its own page. The AI does one job: it scores the player’s written reasoning against a fact sheet that a person wrote by hand. Eight of the fifteen formats are scored deterministically and involve no model at all. If a case ships with a flaw, that is the author’s doing, not the model’s.
