The Daily Observation Game

An observation game gives you a scene, a constraint, and a reason to look properly. Daily Holmes publishes one every midnight: a photograph of a stranger's space, read for evidence and scored on what you actually noticed.

Most observation training online is abstract drills: find the odd tile, track the moving dot. Useful, but nothing like the way attention works in a real room. Daily Holmes trains the habit on lived-in scenes. In the marking formats you hunt the image itself: find the object that does not belong, mark the traces a person left behind, spot what changed between two versions of the same room. Your marks are scored against the case's evidence, so the feedback tells you what you walked past, not just what you found.

The daily constraint is the point. One case a day, a few minutes, and a scorecard that remembers. Observation improves the way any skill does, through short reps with feedback, and a morning photograph is a rep you will actually do.

You can try every format in five-second micro demos on the modes page, and the method behind this one is covered in observation skills training.

A case crosses your desk every morning.

Frequently asked questions

What is a daily observation game?

A puzzle that publishes one new scene every day and scores how well you noticed its details. Daily Holmes publishes a photograph every midnight; you mark or describe the evidence and are graded on what you caught.

Do observation games actually improve attention to detail?

Short daily practice with feedback does. The improvement comes from the review step: seeing what you missed teaches your eye where to look next time. A few focused minutes a day beats an occasional long session.

Is the daily observation game free?

Yes. The daily case at Daily Holmes is free and runs in any browser. No signup to play today's case.
